Facial Recognition Lawsuit For Indian State

A Muslim activist in the "most surveilled place in the world" - India's Telangana State, home to over 600k cameras, and the country's HQ for Amazon, Microsoft and IBM - has filed a lawsuit against the use of facial recognition technology.

60만 대 이상의 카메라가 있는 인도의 텔랑가나 주(Telangana State)와 아마존, 마이크로소프트, IBM의 본사가 안면 인식 기술의 사용에 대해 소송을 제기했다.

Police can access the database via an app on their phones, and claim they only use it to track "suspected criminals," while the election commission can also use the system.

경찰은 휴대폰의 앱을 통해 데이터베이스에 접속할 수 있으며, 그들이 "용의자"를 추적하기 위해서만 데이터베이스를 사용할 수 있고, 선거관리위원회도 이 시스템을 사용할 수 있다고 주장한다.

The Indian govt is rolling out one of the world's largest AI-run facial recognition systems, while a planned data protection law will provide govt agencies wide exemptions on the basis of national security.

인도 정부는 세계 최대 규모의 AI 실행 안면인식 시스템 중 하나를 출시하고 있으며, 계획된 데이터 보호법은 국가 안보를 기반으로 정부 기관에 광범위한 면제를 제공할 예정이다.
