MAMMOTH $177mn Google antitrust & market abuse fine from South Korea regulator

매머드 1억7700만 달러 구글, 한국 규제당국으로부터 시장 남용 벌금 부과

Google has been slapped with a huge fine of around $177mn by the Korean Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) - the ninth largest in the regulator’s history - for abusing its market stranglehold.

구글은 규제당국 역사상 9번째로 큰 한국 공정거래위원회로부터 시장 목을 조른 혐의로 약 1억7천700만 달러의 엄청난 벌금을 부과 받았다.

The Big Tech group’s latest blow not only orders them to pay up, but also bans them from imposing Anti-Fragmentation Agreements (AFAs) on companies that prevent them from creating abridged versions of the Android system.

이 빅 테크 그룹의 최근 타격은 그들에게 돈을 지불하라고 명령할 뿐만 아니라 그들이 안드로이드 시스템의 요약본을 만드는 것을 막는 회사들에 대해 AFA를 부과하는 것을 금지하고 있다.Fragmentation Agreements)를 부과하는 것을 금지한다.

The KTFC’s ruling is the latest in a swelling list of anti-trust fines Google and Apple have faced in recent months, and will clamp down on extortionate payment commissions for companies using their app store.
