대부분 사하라 사막 이남의 아프리카 출신으로 구이니언을 포함한 이주자들은 며칠 전 서부 사하라 다크라를 떠난 배에 타고 있었다.
The vessel was heading for the Canary Islands when it began having engine trouble.선박은 엔진에 문제가 생기기 시작했을 때 카나리아 제도로 향하고 있었다. The passengers were left stranded at sea and began suffering from extreme dehydration.승객들은 바다에서 오도 가도 못하게 되었고 극심한 탈수 현상을 겪기 시작했다.
Lone survivor론 생존자
A lone survivor was brought to the Mauritanian city of Nouadhibou after being rescued by the coastguard on Thursday and is receiving medical and psychological support.한명의 생존자가 해안 경비대에 의해 구조된 후 목요일 마우리타니아의 도시 누아디부로 이송되어 의학적, 심리적 지원을 받고 있다.
“Despite COVID 19 mobility restrictions, migrants are still compelled to undertake risky journeys”, said Laura Lungarotti, IOM Mauritania Chief of Mission."COVID19이동성 제약에도 불구하고, 이주자들은 여전히 위험한 여행을 하도록 강요 받고 있습니다,"라고 IOMMouritiania의 최고 책임자인 LauraLungarotti는 말했다.

IOM and UNHCR urged governments to step up efforts to dismantle smuggling networks while also increased safe and legal pathways to asylum and migration.IOM과 UNHCR는 각국 정부가 밀수 네트워크를 해체하기 위한 노력을 강화하는 동시에 안전하고 합법적인 망명 및 이주 경로를 늘릴 것을 촉구했습니다.
“These deaths are preventable, and they are avoidable,” said Vincent Cochetel, UNHCR Special Envoy for the Central Mediterranean.중앙 지중해 난민 고등 판무관실의 빈센트 코체텔 특별 대사는 " 이러한 죽음은 예방 가능하며 피할 수 있다"고 말했다.
“We must take action to target the smugglers and traffickers who offer false promises to migrants and refugees of safe passage to Europe.”"우리는 이민자들과 난민들에게 유럽으로의 안전한 통행을 약속하는 밀수업자들과 인신 매매범들을 목표로 행동을 취해야 합니다."
